What job would you like and why?

This week in our English lessons we have continued to read The Butterfly Lion; following the adventures of Bertie and Millie as they leave school. The boys then began to think about the paths they might follow as they grow up; we challenged them to create an A-Z of jobs and then we began to think about the skills needed for individual ones. Mrs Owens gave a talk about her son who has recently joined the navy. We focused on education and training requirements including fitness as well as personal skills such as self organisation and punctuality, problem solving, ability to work as a part of a team and to listen and follow orders.

Next week the boys have been asked to bring in some research about a job they are interested in. They will share their knowledge with the class and then we will use their work to create a careers book for each class library. The boys will continue to solve word problems.

In Maths, the boys have continued to develop their knowledge of fractions and understanding of word problems.

In RE, we have thought about our personality traits; are we the same at home and at school?

In  Geography, the boys have created floor plans of their bedrooms, taking care to think about scale and layout.

Have a wonderful weekend!
